IONOS “That’s Code For” Campaign

While at Brunner, I was presented an amazing opportunity to own every stage of an animated campaign that seamlessly integrates into the IONOS brand, transcends global cultures, and can live for years.

As Germany’s largest hosting provider, IONOS is as common across the UK and Europe as Godaddy is in the US. And with three new data centers across the US, they had the opportunity to reach a new US based audience.

Working with our client partners at IONOS, as well as our production partners at Animal Studio, we were able to bring the campaign to life generating unprecedented engagement.

They needed a campaign that let American coding professionals know that IONOS offers any and all products and services they could imagine.

Research from the IONOS team concluded that their target audience should be split across four industry segments: developers, IT administrators, designers, and agencies.

After the client landed on their preferred campaign direction, That’s code for IONOS, we began on the script, static storyboard, and key visuals for each campaign asset.

Once we had the four professional illustrations established, we used them as the foundation for an additional layer of specification for our static assets. For example, developers were broken into seven roles: Full-stack Developer, Front-end Developer, Desktop/Enterprise Applications Developer, Test Developer, Mobile Developer, Game/Graphics Developer, and WordPress Developer.

Furthermore, each professional has assets tailored specifically to IONOS products like: Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting, Deploy Now, VPS, Cloud Server, Dedicated Servers, and Partner Program. These combinations resulted in more than 400 total assets across all permutations.

Because this campaign used illustration and animation, we were able to leverage the assets internationally, without talent negotiations.

Let’s work together.

Contact forms are overrated.

In defense of the ephemeral.

In pursuit of the perpetual.
